Daikin Air Handling Units (AHUs) are based on a completely modular design, capable of adapting to the needs of a variety of installation types. The design on which the Daikin AHUs are based makes it possible to configure AHUs suitable for application in all market sectors, for example in hospitals, the pharmaceutical industry, the process industry or the civil sector.
A wide standard range covers air flow rates from 1,100 m3/h up to 124,000 m3/h while paying special attention to energy efficiency. It offers the possibility to choose the most appropriate transverse velocity, depending on the treatment required. In addition, the flow section can be adapted to the dimensional constraints of the installation. All sizes are modularly constructed to facilitate transport and easy assembly on site. With the absence of any welding points the AHUs can be supplied completely dismantled to allow assembly directly on site.
The right dimension for any demand
Daikin AHUs are available in 27 fixed sizes, which fit most purposes. To overcome installation constraints, where space requirements of width and height must adapt to the available space, unit sizes can be tailor-made through increments/decrements of 5 cm.
In the development of all AHUs, special attention has been paid to their energy efficiency. Furthermore, exchange surfaces, motor efficiency, filtration, isolation, friction reduction and pressure drop in the air flow inside the AHU are just some of the most important parameters that have also been considered in the development of the design.
Structures with load-bearing frame and aluminium or anodised aluminium profiles are recommended in particularly aggressive atmosphere. Solutions with thermal-break profiles or with a star profile are recommended for applications where a high level of hygiene is required. Particular attention has been paid to the position of the filters in the airflow, in order to maximize their effectiveness. The doors for inspection and internal services can be provided with outward opening or inward opening for pressurized sections.
All units can be provided with accessories for regulation to provide a more comprehensive product as well as faster and easier installation. These include sensors to measure temperature, humidity and air quality, inverter drives, regulation valves, damper actuators, safety and control devices.
Plug and Play
Daikin is currently also working on another innovative development in order to allow adding these Air Handling Units into a single VRV® system with standard VRV® indoor units. For this purpose, a designated “working pricelist” will be generated containing predefined AHUs which include all the necessary equipment (e.g. complete factory-mounted controls, expansion valves, cabling…) to assure a fast and easy PLUG and PLAY VRV® connection just like a standard VRV® indoor unit. This innovation brings a total monovalent direct-expansion solution with inverter technology for step-less and efficient capacity control to the heating, cooling and fresh air treatment demands of air conditioning applications.
Last but not least one should bear in mind the business advantages that DAIKIN “PLUG and PLAY” VRV® connection may provide for its customers. The possibility of connecting the Air Handling Units with the standard VRV® indoor units in a monovalent heating and cooling VRV® system gives you the opportunity of completely getting rid of fossil fuel burning boilers, chillers and water piping, thus reducing the total investment cost significantly. Altogether, the Daikin “PLUG and PLAY” VRV® connection system offers you the most efficient, easiest-to-install technology with lowest investment costs for the cooling and heating needs of your air conditioning projects.
